My local radio station is broadcasting on 103.9 and has an output power of 3kW. The problem is that it is causing alot of interference with my scanner, especially when scanning in the aircraft and government freqs from 118.0 to about 148.0 mhz. For example, when I pick up the local commuter plane coming into land at Bradford Airport on the 123.075 Unicom, all I hear is the radio station, not the aircraft. I am quite close to the station and antenna, I would say around 600 feet or so. I can actually hear the radio station through my computer speakers and can pick it up with my scanner without having an antenna plugged into it. I am using a Radio Shack PRO-60 and can unplug the rubber ducky antenna and the station comes in loud and clear. Because of this, I am worried that if I spend money on a notch filter, it still will not do any good. Does anyone have any recommendations to help with this dilemma (other than the obvious....Move).
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Dave
