I have a question for all my fellow scanner users out there, if a 2 way system is licensed by the FCC, you know, they register the system, should it not show up somewhere, either in RR, or with the FCC, I found most of the schools local to me, but one is not showing up, is there a place to search it out??

It is in Orange County, TX, but not showing up anywhere.

Any ideas on how to find it??

Thanks

As was posted, some schools use FRS or MURS which is licensed by rule. Unfortunately, some just grab "el cheapo" radios and put then on some frequency and start using them also. I encountered this not long ago. At least the one near me they got their stuff straightened out and at least went to MURS although the radios they're using are not type approved for that. "it happens"....

Keep in mind the RR database relies on user submissions to stay up to date. Someone has to log all the pertinent info: frequency(ies), mode(s) and tone(s) confirmed to be in use then make a database submission. Just because frequencies are listed on a license doesn't guarantee all (if any) are used, so submissions should be based on confirmed data

With that said, most users here and only interested in their local emergency services and not much else. Very few give schools, businesses, etc the time of day to log & submit confirmed data

Any ideas on how to find it??
What specific schools/district(s)?

I took a look, and according to the county there are four school districts. I was able to find all four school districts (and a couple of others) that have licenses with the FCC in the county. None of the licenses are for trunked systems, so there's not something that's going to beacon out when the system is idle. Also, they all show only a single repeater frequency, and a lot of "mobile to mobile" frequencies, which would usually be used for intra-campus - meaning that you'd have to be very close to the campus to pick them up, while the repeater frequency is likely used for school busses, and the only time you would regularly hear that is before and after school when t the busses are on their assigned routes.

So here's what I found (you can look at the linked licenses for all of the mobile frequencies):

West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD:
Repeater 452.1 Analog Voice/DMR Voice.
WQUS296

West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD also already shows in RRDB with two repeaters, but that license has expired:
West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD (RRDB)

Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD:
Repeater 462.075 Analog Voice/DMR Voice.
WQUF913

Bridge City ISD:
Repeater 464.4 Analog Voice/NXDN Voice.
WQAM222

Orangefield ISD:
Repeater 464.475 Analog Voice Only
WQBR704 (This license is for the repeater only)

Orangefield ISD also has a second license with all of the mobiles, licensed for both Analog Voice and DMR Voice:
WRYF316

Vidor ISD also shows a repeater in Orange County:
Repeater: 463.925 Analog Voice/DMR Voice.
WQLE309

Vidor ISD also already shows in RRDB, with a VHF Frequency, but that license has expired:
Vidor Independent School District (RRDB)

And finally, Tekoa Charter School has a number of frequencies licensed for mobile, using Analog Voice, but no repeater:
WRYG909

I'm sure the RRDB Admins would appreciate the submissions to provide up to date information and removing outdated data.

Did you find this in RR, I missed it totally if you did, it was the Little Cypress-Mauriceville system, now the school district has there own PD and thought it would nice to have that in there also.
Thanks for the digging up

All my research was using the FCC database lookup in RRDB (I'm sorry it runs circles around the FCC's ULS search)

The ISD PD is likely using the on-campus radios to communicate with school staff, and my guess would be that they're using a talkgroup on SETRRS for district-wide communications as well as the ability to communicate with local law enforcement (this is pretty common in North Texas with School Resource Officers).

Lamar University already appears to be doing that (although they still show an expired license in RRDB).

Hopefully this will give you a starting point to find the details.

Had the same problem here in my local school district. Finally got a look at a radio, during a Touch a Truck event. Turns out they are on a Cellular PoC system.
