Statewide channels should have a statewide radius. Countywide would cover the whole county. And from what I am seeing you will be able to get anything monitorable just by upping your range 0-30 miles, and depending on how/where you mount the unit you should be able to do it while driving without too much trouble since it's no different than using a GPS.
