I have an SDS100 and usually only listen to one of the channels I have programmed in by pushing the channel button and scowling to the channel I want to concentrate on. When moving it around sometimes I accidentally hit a button on the pad or turn the dial on the top trying to change the volume and accidentally change the channel. Is there a way to lock the keypad and knob so this cannot happen?

@Major146.. SixNine has the right idea. You could also lock out all the other channels on that favorites list that your favorite channel is on. If it is a trunked system and you do put just one talk group on its own favorites list keep in mind you are rolling through that whole system. If you listen to the original favorites list of the same system along with your list with your favorite Channel you will be rolling through that trunked system twice.

A separate favorites list or locking out all the other channels is the way to go. If you hit a wrong button all you need to do is hit Channel again and it will scan only one channel or talk group.. your favorite, if you want you can hit Channel again and it will hold on that channel. Doesn't really matter if you hold or scan it because it's only one object.

It'd be nice if this feature could be implemented in a future firmware update. Though no physical L/O button exists, perhaps something along the lines of a long press of the function key would work?

Somewhere I remember, the keypad lock was eliminated because the keys to the keypad were recessed and flat which is kind of nonsense. The function and the menu keys are not recessed.

I also remember that in Sentinel you could apply keypad lock but could not unlock it without Sentinel which made it kind of useless. It was later removed.

Set it up on its own Quick Key and turn off the other QK's.
Thanks, that sounds like the way to go. but I looked in the user guide and I could not find an understandable explanation of how to do it. I will try surfing the net to see if I can find a video about it.

It's just another way of saying put the object on its own favorites list which you then have to number with a quick key in addition to naming it.

If that channel is one you always want on you can assign the other channels a Quick Key and assign none to it, then simply turn off the others.
