Using a PRO-197 with ARC500 I want to log during the day what is happening on the scanner. I was wondering what progam would be used to do this? I would love to use ProScan but it won't work with this scanner. I don't want to record just see who is using their radios. Thanks.

Maybe I missed it but could you explain how this is done? I couldn't find any logging for the program? Thanks.

Go to the Win500 page at Mr. Starr's site and look at Win500's many features. Here is a partial list:

Win500 Features
. . . A Standalone Remote Monitoring Client is also available for download. It provides the features of the main Win500 Monitor / Control tab - those that are available when connecting to a Win500 Server as a "Client".
Activity logging for all objects (to each object's 'Notes' field and/or a separate log file) Audio Recording for all objects, with an optional time limit per "hit". Recording is enabled/disabled per object, with an additional "master" enable on the Monitor/Control tab
File contents not limited by radio's memory size. You can create "P500" files with up to 100,000 objects. Of course, before uploading to the radio, you must "trim" such files so that they'll fit in the radio. While this feature is intended primarily for managing large collections of data that can then be . . .

The logging & recording functions are under the Monitor/Control tab

WIN500 will NOT log in the search mode (unless you add it to a scan list), where IDTracker WILL.
Here is my topic on it.>>> http://forums.radioreference.com/sc...247099-software-record-while-search-mode.html

Which is described in the text posted by TES - it clearly says "objects", referring to the PSR-500's "Scannable Objects". Create as many such search objects as you like, put them in an enabled scan list, hit SCAN, and Win500 will record and log them.

I wished WIN500 did log searches with making a scan list for it, I mean for $35.00 it should do it, and yes I did pay for it.

I'm not sure why requiring a "scannable object" for search logging is a problem.

If not using a "scannable object", the presumption is that the scanner is in a dedicated search mode.

If using a "scannable object" for searching, the scanner can be in "scan mode" scanning other things, as well (including other "searches").

If you're out of scan lists, you can use a V-Scanner folder for your dedicated search objects / scan lists.

Of course, you're not "out of scan lists". You're tethering the scanner to a PC in order to do this logging, so you could (should?) be using a dedicated scanner configuration file for this purpose.

Maybe it's because I don't know how.
This having to use software to program a scanner is new to me, but I'm willing to learn, that's why I paid for your program to start with.
It was the easiest to use.
Don, sorry if I offend you on this.
