Does anyone have scanner frequencies for the race? Taking my nephew and he wants to take my scanner.
A few days before the event INDYCAR has listed the radio frequencies for the drivers on the spotters guide in previous years. (Most will be the same race to race.)
I was able to search at the Portland race last year and figure out the tv/radio feeds, which was very useful during the race itself. I would imagine a scanner booth at the track will have already figured those out beforehand, but there was no booth in Portland last year, and no scanner rentals.
I used a simple analog radio (bc125at), stock antenna, and some good noise reduction headset from amazon. I burned through two sets of aa batteries I think for the whole weekend.
There is a thread here from last year for INDYCAR, it might be worth a look for some intel to get a head start on this year’s event.
FYI, for this year nbc gold is having the commentary announcers at every session, so you should be able to scan and find the radio & tv frequencies during the first practice session. In addition, now that NTT data is the Series sponser and not Verizon, the leaderboards and other exclusive INDYCAR app features are now available on all mobile carriers.
