Well i've had my radioshack magnet mount antenna up on my roof hooked to my Pro- 197, for a few months now I notice its starting to rust and I can actaully pick up signals better in my room with a rubber antenna than a outdoor one. So I was looking at new antennas and I Have no idea where to start . I need something thats not too big yet still has a good range. Any recomendations would be great ! And if possible around $100 or less.

Thanks !

I use the RS 25-1.3 grnd plane=$29.00, think part of the stock # is "176', get some LMR400 or RG6U coax and mount it in the attic or roof pipe, works fantastic.....

I checked that out on Radioshack it seems to be a nice antenna for the price ! One question I have is how does it hold up outside? Being that we live in North Dakota we get heavy snow and some freezing rain that puts weight on things. Also How is the range on it ?

Thanks for your help !

Hi tylermaule1995: I've been using an Austin Spectra antenna that I bought in 2005 and to this day, I haven't had a rust problem with it. It is available with a magnet mount, so you can have the same type of mount that you're using now.

It is a bit pricey (more than $100.00) but the quality and heavy duty construction makes it worthwhile, in my opinion. Just something else to consider.
