Does Oak Lawn , Illinois, police and fire still broadcast ?

I want to make sure before I buy a digital scanner. Thank you in advance for your help on this.

I believe so, but the database shows that some of it is encrypted, so no scanner will receive that.

Oak lawn fire dept still uses analog along with a few other fire depts which is still in the clear. 155.5575 is the freq. Im just a stones throw away from oak lawn. You can go for the gusto and get the sds100 or start out with a bc125at then go from there. It all depends on what you want to monitor. i use a 436hp and several other digitals and have no issues.

I forgot to mention oak lawn pd is 100% encrypted.

If your primary interest is Oak Lawn PD, then no need for a digital scanner. Most departments in the vicinity are encrypted. Illinois State Police is still in the clear and can still be monitored, but due to it being on a simulcast system, one of the SDS models is suggested.
