Good afternoon,

I'm not sure if this can be posted here, but like the title says, I'm looking for an Elmer in the Hudson area that can help me out learning about the hobby. I'm going for my tech license in a couple weeks and just looking for words of wisdom. I've been reading up on the no nonsense tech study guide to start with. Thanks.

Ham study

Hi Dave.
I too am studying the ham stuff.
I have been distracted by life to the point of no time to study..
I can tell you this--you might have been better off posting in the HAM area.
But, since I am here, I will share this with you...:)

And i sincerely hope you know something about electricity--alot actually..
Here is some formula's I have on my wall that I look at all the time..
I===current
V===voltage
R===resistance
/===divided by
So--
I/R=V
V/I=R
V/R=I
Then, you got the atmosphere,
wideband/narrowband
Morse code has been dropped on the test..Don't get distracted--if possible..
BEST of luck

Thanks for the reply mainetrunk. Good advice. I posted here because I may be tempted to meet up with someone locally who can show me some equipment. I've only been scanning public safety for around 5 or 6 years on and off. I'm interested in more than just scanning.

Drop in to HRO over in Salem. Talk to the Guys there, they can likely recommend a local resource. Such as a local Club that might be running a training prior to the exams, or a good contact (ELMER) to help you along
