East_LA_Cop I would recommend you use Win97. It can easily load EDACS trunking systems and even import directly from RadioReference with little effort. I program many EDACS systems into my Pro-97 with that. Good luck.

You don't need any UHF freqs. Basically just program these frequencies highlighted in RED into the exact same channels. Leave Channel #00 blank since we are programming an EDACS which the freqs need to be in LCN order. Start on channel 01 and you will end at Ch 20.

If you doing it manually and not thru Win97 just set the Bank mode to EDACS and each channel mode to EDACS. That is really all you need to do in order to get started. Once this works you can start saving ID's per the manual and eventually close the bank so you only get LA County PD.

Ok, I just put in those red frequencies, Brandon. I hear some of them, is it normal if I hear a couple of small "Beep beep beeps" right before each transmission ends? What is the next step?

Just fyi. I recently tried programing the basin system to improve reception with great
results. No more beep beep beep, and no more missed or distorted transmissions.
Not all users seem to be on this system, but LACOPS and Animal control both are
on this ststem along with some others.

Most of the L.A. Co. depts have Basin in their radios. DPW (road, flood and dams), Health Dept, Coroner, ISD (Internal Services Division), Hospitals, Agriculture Dept, Animal Control, LA Co. Cops etc.

ISD contains the Radio Systems division who maintain the CWIRS systems and all other country communications.

Radio Systems contains these shops

Network aka 4-shop (microwave, most work remote hilltops)
Field Radio aka 7-shop (techs who do service calls) mostly for fire and CWIRS
Radio shop aka 8-shop (bench and drive up repairs) also do installs
9-shop (take care of dispatch consoles and C&C (CAD) tower at fire HQ in Monterey Park) Also do field service calls
Antelope Valley 6-shop (field techs who do service calls and network hilltops calls) 7 shop handles L.A. basin calls
Line Crew 10-shop (pole/tower climbers)

Workers in Radio Systems will ID with shop call number and shop ID.
Ex. 4T (Four Tom) is a network tech.

The CWIRS system was retimed for better coverage a couple years ago. Basin or Countrywide working better depends on where you are.

Several of the hospitals run off a CWIRS "Small Cell". This is a local cell set up for just the hospitals to improve coverage.
