I have a pair of PSR600's I use for P25 decoding using PRO96Com.

One of my radios works fine but the other seems to lose the P25 decode after a day or so. I can still hear the signal with the volume up but the radio no longer displays the P25 info nor does it send P25 data down the serial port. If I shut off the radio and turn it back on it will work until some time later and then stop decoding again.

Both radios have the latest firmware (2.1) and DSP (1.4).

Any ideas?

In the advanced settings menu (PGM then FUNC then F3) there is a setting at the bottom for CCDump which should be set to yes in your situation. You might verify it is set to yes.

Yes, it is (and was) set to Yes.

I think if that was No then it would not send data at all, in my situation it does send data but stops after a few hours.

Thanks!

This may be a case of Windows USB power saving settings? I found out the USB port can be turned off after some time by windows, it's in power settings.

I don't think so. Both radios are plugged into the same USB hub and it is the radio itself that stops decoding. If it were the USB cable, hub or port then the radio would still decode and display.

I think the only remaining possible conclusion is there is some sort of physical difference inside the two scanners. Possibly one is older than the other and has a slightly different version of some IC chip which is causing the quirk.

I think you are right. I will try to swap it out this weekend, I have a few in the garage, I think there is one each of the PRO197, PSR600 and WS1065 out there.

Just turn the 'Squelch' all the way down and it will work fine.
It does for me for long Pro96com logging.

Tried that and the decode stopped after a few hours anyway. The other PSR600 in my rack has been decoding continually for a couple months.

I replaced the radio last night with a different PSR600 and the new one has been working flawlessly since. The bad PSR600 will go into storage and probably end up as my garage scanner since I only need a few conventional channels.
