First, thanks so much for a great program...

UT has been working fine for some time decoding a Motorola type II 800 analog sys, decode rate 99-100%, then everything went bad. Lost all my saved configurations RID,(months of radio ids monitored and saved) GID, etc.. Only thing the program showed at the time was in the calling party column all channels active (13 freqs. including the CC) with one caller, which was not the case. When I closed the program (X) then restarted all was lost - UT had reverted back to default settings.

Now, after an uninstall and reinstall UT will not save any changes( auto save is "on") made to GID nor RID. Tried "alt s" and "tab" to save then "enter" - both no good...

Thanks for any help,
Bob

Make sure you use the E[x]it menu to quit the program, not the [X] in the top right corner of the window.

The uninstall / reinstall was likely unnecessary.

Incidentally, what OS is this?

Let's start with receiver and program options; be sure to ave from the main menu after editing / saving the changes from inside the [O]ptions or [R]eceivers menu. Check the Uniform.cfg file where you configuration is saved. Make sure it is not marked as read-only. The file is located in your Program Files / rfmobile / Unitrunker folder.

Next we can look at being able to edit your data and look for clues as to why it was lost.

Hi Rick,

The E{x}it from the menu was used, sorry I was unclear about that.. OS is XP Pro SP2.

What seems strange (to me) is {R}eceivers,{O}ptions, and{ L}isten settings can be edited/changed and saved with no problems. However, changes made to RID and GID such as Label, Color, Listen (yes/no), Priority are not saved when {E}xit is used to close the program.

Checked the Uniform.cfg file in Attributes and read only is "not" checked, ran into that problem some time back, one of the first things I looked at...

Got it. I was doubly confused.

However, changes made to RID and GID such as Label, Color, Listen (yes/no), Priority are not saved when {E}xit is used to close the program.
Check file permissions for the system's SYS, SIT, HZ, PLN, GID and RID files.

How do you go about editing a talkgroup? Do you use [F]ind or nsert?

OK, my fault... the permissions for SYS,SIT,HZ,PLN,GID, were not set correctly. Thought I looked at that but it was only the RID file I checked and was trying to edit the GID... Anyway, with your help, I'm now able to start a recovery of my RID/GID data - it's a big state TRS with a high volume of users. Luckily I kept a backup of the RID and was only about 2 weeks off from being current.

Still have no idea what happened when the calling party column filled up with the one user on all channels and the data was lost.

Without exception I use {F}ind to edit to my talkgroups and users
