Need help! I have a Uniden BCD996P2 Scanner that was fully programed with 8 channels 3 years ago, it runs for about 12hrs a day and is connected to a timer and a surge protector. Yesterday my pager went off for a fire call and I noticed the scanner did not. When I looked at the scanner it was only scanning 2 channels. I unplugged and plugged it back in same to channels. I'm sending 2 pics with this post so you can see what it is showing. What happen to the rest of the channels?

Sorry, I was on shift the other day. I tried it and it scans and ends up at a radio station with music, see pic.

Press the L/O button. That will lockout the FM frequency and you will be able to see if the other frequencies you want are in that same group. That is assuming you are not scanning the entire FM broadcast band. Are you using programming software?

When you work for a dept in a small city you only have a few channels you need. When we are not on shift we also have a pager and active911 to keep us updated too.
Those usually use analog and a cheaper radio seems better suited. However, if a person has the funds and wants to listen to 1 TG on a SDS 200 more power to them. If I had the money I would set an individual SDS 200 for each TG on the county's Simulcast system.

I hear you there! I did have an analog scanner and it worked great. I should say until the some not all of the departments decided to go digital. So I had to spend a ton more money and get this one that would pickup analog and digital.

Have you reviewed your programming to see if the "lost channels" are still there? Hit HOLD and then scroll through the programmed channels using the "large knob". It should be pretty easy to review if you have only 8 channels. This should also let you look to see if the channels were inadvertently Locked/Out.

To add slightly to what RMason has suggested, you might want to download & install FreeSCAN. Connect the cable that came with the scanner to your PC & download your programming into the software. You can use the software to review what is already programmed, and save that to your PC as a "just in case" backup.

That FM radio station appears to be programmed. Possibly, at some point, you ran either Close Call, or did a search for new frequencies with Auto Store active. When doing a search, or using Close Call, if Auto Store is activated, it will store any new frequency it runs across and adds them to your programming file. In regards to Close Call. or Search, you can use Broadcast Screen so that the scanner does not 'find' FM radio or broadcast TV channels.
