Yesterday was the "EMS Challenge" day for the fall 2024 EMT class. It was conducted on 61G with 61H serving as the hospital channel. Eight teams of students conducted simulated EMS calls. One of the regular dispatchers was located in the training bldg to serve exactly as she normally does. Teams were dispatched to calls around the training center and to a few locations in the surrounding area. They rode on ambulances, conducted patients assessments, provided any needed aid and then transported to the "hospital" at the training bldg. While enroute they would contact the hospital and give a patient report. Once at the hospital they gave a transfer of care report to the doctors who were the actual county medical director and assistant operational medical director. Types of calls included opioid overdose, OB, electrocution, gun shot, vehicle accident, trouble breathing, chest pains, febrile seizure, diabetic emergency, cardiac arrest and anaphylactic allergic reaction.

I got bunch of RIDs identified today. So along with others I've slowly been adding, the list of regular units I'm lacking any RID for is pretty small.

Some more system info. Site 11 is at Woodgrove High School. A 12th site is still being planned. Potential new tower sites are being evaluated in Leesburg, Ashburn and north Sterling. LCPS won't allow the use of school property. There should be some testing of the 700mhz cell on Wednesday.

I'm hearing some testing using some of the inputs for the 700mhz cell. I think the county is also in failsoft mode.
803.14375
802.54375
802.28125

Dispatchers (I think) are using portables on 851.55 which is the failsoft freq for 6H through 6L. They did some radio check on 61H prior to beginning.

Various fire and LCSO units are at different locations around the county to do tests with their portables.

It's looking/sounding like Arcola VFD has begun their routes with the engine with Santa. Operating on 61G Tac 51. They're using E609B along with Support 609 and SERV609. UTIL609B and ADMIN609 (E-150 van) are also involved.

Tomorrow night the Leesburg VFC will begin it's annual routes using the 2019 Pierce engine with a command vehicle leading. There will be Santa along with several friends. It will be possible to track the location online.

The fleet map isn't 100% accurate for the current code plug.

There is a Loudoun Govt zone with channels for public, works, radio ops, radio tac 1, schools, EOC and health.

I don't know if it's the case for every station, but 20 has a zone for Leesburg PD. That consists of LPD ECC (dispatch), LPD C2C, LPD TAC 1, LPD TAC 2, LPD TAC 3, LPD TAC 4, LPD TAC 5 and LPD MOTORS.

There is also a Fairfax zone for DVRS channels.

As a data point, some jurisdictions that run TRSs have DVRS installed in at least some of their apparatus (and/or command vehicles) in case an incident occurs in an area that only supports portable-on-street coverage - which is technically most areas with many systems.

I understand how DVRS freqs work, I just didn’t know Fairfax Co had any. DC and Montgomery Co both use DVRS wherever coverage is poor.

Doing some in-depth license research would likely reveal if DVRS are in use - there are frequency separation requirements, usually > 3 MHz.
