Simple question. It’s on the wiki but the wiki is outdated. After the 2023 county renumbering, LFD has appeared to have redesignated the battalion numbers. Of course 1-4 are the on duty suppression BCs BC5 was formerly BC50 but besides that Ive been lost. I remember it used to go in Tens, BC20, 30, 40, etc. if I remember correctly BC20 was special ops and 70 was like support or something. Anyway, over the last year or so Ive heard BC20, 11, 12, etc im just curious to who is who basically. Obviously i assume the renumbered to avoid confusion with county units because if on scene together a unit calling out as BC50 might get confused with a J town unit. Anyway thanks to anyone who has info, my mind kinda wandered and i over explained lol.

I suspect that LFD can use Battalion 1 to 29. Anything 30 on up is suburban.

So hopefully there was some discussion between LFD and Suburban fire when this number system was conjured up. But LFD companies and stations are completely in-sync.

yeah that’s what I figured. I believe one of them just totaled their vehicle so that partly why im curious lol. Don’t hear many in the radio besides a small handful as is expected. The suburban ones are pretty easy though. Although i didn’t know St Matts had a Safety officer until i heard “Safety 48” one day. I was told it’s a 40 hour position.

St. Matthews, according to the chart I have, is the only suburban district having units with "Safety" as a prefix. They got 46, 47 and 48. Whether these are chief officers, battalion chiefs, captains, etc., is unknown.

If you wanted to reach out to Captain Donovan Sims who is LFD's public information officer, you might be able to get a list.
