I monitore Louisville Metrosafe Suburban Fire 5-8 Oaklawn Tack 80 on Scanner Live. Starting a couple days ago as a new set of tones being used for many dispatches. Does anybody know why these were implemented?

I've been out of the loop for a while. That said, I continue to monitor the system and have not heard anything that caught my ear.

Can you provide some more detail please?

By way of an update, I talked with a guy who is active in the suburban fire service today. There have been no changes in dispatching "stuff" lately.

There's like a chirping tone that goes out during most dispatches, especially the ambulance dispatches. I just are noticing a couple weeks ago. It was not on the system itself it must be something that the seed provided by Oakalona.

As I stated I hear mostly during and builds dispatches, I was wondering if it was something it was added because of how many ambulances are not associated with fire departments. I know that within the last year Jeffersontown, Middletown, St. Matthew's and Fern Creek have all added ambulances and that Harrods Creek and PRP are posted in the process of adding ambulance service. Of course those of us who are taxpayers in 1 of those districts now are paying for both Metro ambulance service and seeing a 50% increase in the taxes we pay for the part apartment to provide an additional 1. Can we say double taxation?

About a month ago, they replaced all the transmitters on the dispatch channel. It's possible something could have been done in conjunction with that. The dispatch channel, a VHF frequency, is patched to the Suburban Dispatch talkgroup.

I don't think Fern Creek has made the EMS move yet, Buechel has.

Taxes are something we love to hate and it's doubtful we'll ever see a tax system that we all agree is "fair and reasonable".

It may have been that long ago I started hearing the chirping sounds, doesn't seem like it but time flies!

Yes you are correct it is Buechel that now has EMS and as you said I think Fern Creek is looking at it. Won't be long before all the suburban fire districts have their own ambulances. And will almost be back to work EMS was originally with city fire operating EMS service for the urban services district. Of course all of us will have to pay for service we don't use.
