LOVELAND - Police are investigating an apparent homicide after receiving numerous 911 calls about a disturbance involving gunshots at a local high school during the early morning hours on Saturday.

At about 1:15 a.m., police were alerted to an incident at Thompson Valley High School. When responding officers arrived at the high school, they found an adult man dead on the school grounds from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a police department press release.

Authorities are investigating the incident and are in contact with numerous witnesses, police said.

There does not appear to be any connection to Thompson Valley High School or the Thompson School District, police said.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office was notified of the incident and has taken the victim. The Loveland Police Department will notify the victim's family and continue processing the scene, police said.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call Detective Paul Arreola at 667-2151.
