Hi gents. Quick question. Im going to try to ask this in a way that you guys don't get mad at a Newbie.

Im in Denton County TX trying to set up the trunking for the Little Elm PD. They use the Intellitouch LTR. I believe I have everything set up on the radio correctly because Im getting what I think is the LTR data bursts every couple seconds. Im just not getting any police conversation??? I thought I had it set up correctly but the first conversation I got was in Spanish???
When setting up the channels I know they have to go in numeric order on my radio but do they have to be in the correct channels as well?

Site Hex Name
001 1 Confirmed LCN 01 N/A 02 N/A 03 464.35000 04 461.12500 05 N/A 06 N/A 07 464.70000
08 463.80000 09 464.80000 10 N/A 11 N/A 12 N/A 13 N/A 14 N/A
15 N/A 16 N/A 17 463.30000

This is my freq list from the data base. Does this mean I leave channel 1 and 2 blank and put my first freq in 3 then four, skip 5 and 6....etc

or do I just need to start the first freq in chan 01 and then have them in numeric order 2,3,4, etc?

Yes, assuming you have a bank scanner. Then be sure you put the scanner in IDsearch, or Open, depending on the brand. This will allow you to pick up all traffic. Later, you can narrow down what you hear by entering the TGID's of interest, and then use the IDscan, or Closed.

Since there are no TGID's in the database: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3833 ,
you can help others if you ID some the the TGID's by function, and then submit them to the database using the submit button above.

You are correct in your assumption that you have have to skip channels.

Programming an LTR system in not intuitive, but once you figure out how it works it's pretty easy.

One of the repeater pairs is the home repeater, that will certainly have to be put in the correct spot.

You can try putting the repeater pairs into the scanner in conventional mode and monitoring for awhile. the pair that the scanner stops on first when the system is idle is the home repeater for that talkgroup.

Here's a couple of links that you can read to help you wrap your brain around how an LTR system works.

Thanks for your replys gentlemen. Shortly after starting this thread I was FINALLY able to get through to the RS help line that you get when you buy the scanner. I forgot to mention earlier that Im using the Pro-164. On this call he told me that I didn't need to skip any channels as long as I started at 01?

I haven't heard any traffic yet

Im going to try to reprogram skipping the channels not listed. Thanks for the advice gents.

Actually if you want to listen to Little Elm, you can find them here. The fire department is TG 8528 and I believe the police department is dispatched by Denton County probably on TG 592.

Definitely program it skipping the memory slots that say N/A. The best thing about the radio, is if you enter the frequencies, it will put them in order for you:)

there were some GRE made R/S scanners made that did not need blank channels left empty. But to ensure proper reception, if a LTR channel is posted as blank, leave a corresponding blank channel in your scanner.
