Now that I have this programming with a computer pretty much down pat I have a question I am sure that's been asked before. I did some checking but couldn't find anything.Conventional and EDACS works great programming with my computer from the RR database. I have no Motorola around here. So here is my question, how come RR doesn't have any LTR systems that I can program from? None at least here in the Orange-Ulster and Dutchess County areas of New York State. Thanks for any help.................Ray

Simple answer- Because you haven't found them and submitted them yet!

I found and mapped 6 different LTR systems in my area last year. They are now posted on RR.

What's your contribution?

I have contributed. It was a long time ago, but I did send in the trunk frequencies for the same area I asked about the LTR system's. I even sent in some ID's. It been a while so I guess you can say that's history, just like your 6 different LTR systems are going to be. Then when you ask a simple question some idiot like yourself can give you a smarta@@ answer like you gave me. By the way I do know the LTR systems I just didn't know why or even if for some crazy reason bctool could program them. You see as I have posted in other forums here I am a rookie as far as using a computer. I was a WebTv then a MSNtv person until about a month ago. I think I came a long way with very little help. So why don't you be cool and when someone asks a question either answer it or if your in one of your wiseguy moods let it go and don't say anything. I have never seen a hobby like scanning that some people love to be so rude when a person ask a question. I thought that was the reason for the forums. Thank you for your time .....................Ray

The LTR systems are all listed at NF2G. For the Mid-Hudson Valley that's the most accurate data source. LTR is simple enough that hand entering the data into your program is easy.

I'm gonna have to go with that one as the accepted answer.

The RR Database is wholly user created. I am a Database Admin, but I cant post anything that I dont know about!

The nice thing about trunking is that there are "constant on" control channels that are a telltale sign. Once you have the control channel (motorola control channels sound ALOT different than EDACS), all you have to do is search the DB for the license that goes along and see what other frequencies they have.

That's not an answer. It's just some smarta@@ reply to a question. That's how people end up with attitudes, ask a simple question and get an answer like that..Ray

Hi Ray,

I think you should really calm down a bit...... There is always people here to help out as much as they can. I think NWOU's post was not really meant to be rude, just stating that if you know of a system that is not in the database to submit any info you have.

So, your answer is, there is no LTR systems in the RR database that has been submitted yet in your area..... and hopefully you will find one and kindly submit the info.

Edit: This also could have been posted in the database forum as it has to do with the database.
Good luck Ray
Ron

One man's joke is another man's misunderstanding. Or cause for an internet flamewar.
Sorry.

The reason there aren't any LTR systems listed is because there aren't any submitted. Since now state you know these systems you could submit them. Your first question didn't suggest you knew anything about them other than you couldn't get some info from the dB.

If you visited the web more your skin would thicken up a bit and you might see that the more you explain about what you're asking the better the answers you'll receive in return.

Gotta pick a nit with you Jason. Mot trunking has always-on control channels. LTR does not.

LTR seems to regularly break squelch on idle channels but catching that quick blit isn't sufficient to define the system and is really easy to miss when doing a frequency search.

Cracking an LTR system requires a lot of time and patience. Or a listing procured from somewhere like the radio techs who maintain it. Even license listings are often insufficient because of multiple license owners and site locations and time mangling how the channels are setup and how many systems are actually in use.

This is why I thought the OP was complaining about no systems listed - because they can be difficult to figure out.
(I didn't catch that he was complaining about the database not listing systems he knows about)

Your right I should have stated my question better. I jumped the gun and thought I was being treated like a fool. But I really didn't know if bcTool and RR supported LTR systems. I only listen to my area and like I said I am new to the computer and while at first it seems like this thing is impossible it gets better like everything does as you learn about it. Just like when I programmed my first trunk- tracker. By the way I did submit a couple of LTR systems for Ulster and Orange counties here in NY.Thanks for your time and I hope no one holds a grudge...............Ray

Stated that way is a very good question. When using a computer it's always wise to be suspicious about what it's doing.

When I was just starting with LTR systems I found that Win97 didn't import something in the way I expected. I can't recall what it was. I reported the issue to the dB admin who passed it along.
But to have that problem I had to start with an LTR system listed in RR which was part of my report to the admin explaining what I saw.

For test purposes you could go to some other State listing, find an LTR system and try to import that one. Then you'll know if the software works.

. But I really didn't know if bcTool and RR supported LTR systems.
