I do work at a local Security company and handle the programming of the radio's. Now recently I was confused when I heard communication on my scanner from the company on a conventional channel. I thought it could be a control channel but the freq. wasn't one that was programmed in the radio's. Just in case I checked the FCC's website and ran it the freq. isn't licensed to any one in South Carolina. The company's radio system is run by Mid State Electronics and the freq. was 483.8625 and occasionally there is a data burst.

This sounds like I.F. intermod. 10.7+10.7=21.4 above the actual repeater freq. Now this may not be your case, BUT, remember to keep your walkie away from your scanner. You could hit on a KILLER freq and fry the scanner. Mid State has many freqs, check lic by their name.
