On May 1st at around 1:30 PM, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a barn that was on fire near 4708 Highland Drive, east of the Town of Lyons in unincorporated Boulder County. The homeowner smelled smoke and heard loud explosions in the area behind her residence. She went out to investigate and found her barn on fire.
The Lyons Fire Protection District initially responded and found a two-story structure fully involved in flames. Additional resources from the Hygiene Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District, Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District, Longmont Emergency Unit, Pridemark Paramedics, and deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office were summonsed to the scene.
The structure sustained approximately $150,000 in damage. No one was injured in the fire. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office began an investigation as to the cause and nature of the fire, but due to the residual heat and other hazards postponed it until tomorrow morning.
