oops

Sorry for confusion N_jay. I saw your reply in my thread subscription email and didn't see a quoted message and I assumed the reply was directed at my post.:) Now it makes sense and I got all defensive over nothing.

You would think that someone who is making the decision to spend the "big-bucks" would be reading news articles and other material that would give the pros and cons of any communication system that others are going to put there lives on the line for. It shouldnt' be the cost of the system but how well it is going to function when those that will have to depend on it for there lives and the lives of those they are sworn to protect.

You would think that they would make calls to other clients of this company to see how well the system works. You wouldn't just depend on the work of the salesperson (who is getting a nice heafty check for the commission of this sale).

But, apparently someone hasn't done there homework and I'm surprised that this person is the person in charge. But, maybe by the time that this fails (and from what I have read, it will) that person will have retired and maybe made a big bonus himself from what was recommened.

We all do it, we talk, we ask we investigate to determine, the best equipment to do our jobs. We just don't reley on the word of a salesperson. Yet, the common sense that you think that person would have, just isn't there. I wonder what this person does when he is planning on getting something for himself. I'm sure that he just doesn't rely on the salesperson to recommend the best brand for his hard-earned money.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Unfortunately we live in a time when decision makers don't always make choices that are in the best interest of the community, or the greater good. Too often there is politics, and money involved that cloud intelligent, and informed decisions.
