To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Looking for some help.
I purchased an older MA/COM DSDX04 control station. I am looking to put in one of my M7100.
I programmed the radio but when placed in the DSDX04 it will not power up.
I think my settings are right and i think the jumpers are correct according to the help file in RPM.
AM i missing something? will this work?
I did see a wire that goes from db25 to 2 molex connectors is available, but not sure if this is necessary.

Did it have a radio in it and power up before?

Check the power switch in the back ( I know that sounds stupid but trust me )

Check and make sure you have voltage coming from the power supply.

I have the same thing but working fine. From the power supply, there should be a short pigtail with a power plug that goes to the MRU power jack. Check the voltage at that plug. As KC8ONR suggests, do check the power switch next to the line socket and the breaker is not tripped.
Switching on the power, there is a power led and the VU indicator should jump (If equipped) The fan should also start.
The DB44 connector should have a pigtail to the main board under the radio. The DB25 is generally not used but could be extended to the back panel for accessories.
A note: If you install like the 110 watt VHF radio, the power supply is working near max and long key downs could cause the PSU to fail.
I have my radio turned down to 65 watts for those long winded hams.

Sorry i should have explained better. The radio removed powered up fine, it was a D28LPX. I have a M7100 that also works, which was what i put in. This radio will not power up in the control stationDSDX04. There is power. I am wondering if there is a setting in rpm i need to change and or is there something i should change on the board. I followed the help section the best i could in rpm for setting up a desktop station.

Interconnect Board Jumper Settings (Jaguar 725M/Orion)

Interconnect Board Jumper Settings

The Jaguar, M7100, or M7200 radio requires the following jumper settings on the Desktop Station Interconnect board:

J217 - Pins 2 and 3

J218 - Pins 2 and 3

J219 - Pins 2 and 3

J220 - Pins 2 and 3

These jumpers are located in a row toward the lower right corner of the board. Pins 2 and 3 of each jumper are toward the center of the board.

LED is on but the fan is not. The fan works when powered by the large leads to the radio.

OK, the fan may have a themal switch on the control board, but that is also where it gets its power.
The two larger wires from the PSU has a plug that goes to the back of the radio. If that is fully seated then you have a bad plug.
and needs to be replaced. These are the plain power cables you can find cheaply on ebay. Common to find them cut down.
I don't see any other posible way, the radio will not power up.

Just a shot in the dark here as I have never used the control station. But does it provide ignition sense voltage to pin 10 of the M7100? If not then you would need to turn off ignition sense inside the radio.

The ignition sense should be available at the accessory pigtail from the board. If it is missing, you need to set the switch in the radio.
With the radio on the bench, do you need the ignition sense for the radio to turn on? If yes, then change that switch.
That switch by default disables the ignition sense, but possible for some techs to change it.
