• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

M7300/XG-75M scan issue

Weird problem with my new-to-me M7300. I've programmed a P25 trunked Phase II system (for NAS) and a conventional system. I have no problem monitoring and scanning the conventional system with priority scan, etc. It works fine and performs like any other GE/Ericsson/Harris product I've ever owned.

When I switch to the P25 system, my scan operation seems all jacked up. The scan button and scan add/delete function literally stop working, the radio seemingly stops scanning talk groups altogether. The radio will generally unmute for whatever talk group I have selected (but sometimes it doesn't even do that). I tried setting up a "custom scan" situation but the radio still will not let me get into my custom scan from the menu and select a scan list and/or make changes to the scan list from the control head.

It's almost like as soon as the radio enters the P25 system the CH-721 (scan type) control head functionality becomes limited or impaired and it won't respond to operator inputs for scanning AT ALL. It just sits on the selected talk group. The scan icon (the little triangles) spin around like it's scanning but I think that just means it's scanning for a control channel.

It's almost behaving like a conventional radio would behave with "off hook scan" disabled (there is no mic on this radio) in that it stops scanning when the mic is off the hook, but I've checked and triple checked that I have that setting set properly. That ain't it.

The radio connects to and hears the P25 system just fine, I've manually selected various talk groups and it follows conversations on them fine. The issue isn't that the P25 isn't being heard properly. Its some kind of scan issue and I just know I've overlooked something in RPM or there's some whacky feature or glitch in RPM I didn't know about to enable scanning. I'd be happy to send my personality file to anyone for review. I've programmed several GE/Ericsson/Harris radios over the years I'm not new to programmer/RPM. I just did my own XG-100P a couple weeks ago and it works fine...I know how to do this - I'm just missing something. Or...the radio is FUBAR'ed but I really don't think that's the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

well if you found a harris dealer and talk to them about that feature and how much it would cost to get a new feature string from Harris, if it is still supported by harris, that would be the way to go unless it would be to much for that one feature, only you can decide if it is to much to pay, or it is not supported anymore. At least you now know what the problem is. I do have a dealer if you want contact info.

I haven't been able to find that feature broken out on any price list anywhere on the net. I hope it's available because I think it's going to be much easier to go that route rather than the alternative of trying to find another VHF Phase 2 TDMA P25 trunking M7300/XG75M chassis. Can't find those anywhere!

I'll take whatever contacts you have, send me a DM.
