Is anyone familiar with the MABAS frquencies and how they are used?

I have heard that all you need is the red, white, and blue freqs.

I know my BCT8 won't let me put in the gold, black, and grey freqs., it just rounds them off to the next one up. (for instance,, I put in 153.8375, and it will only save it as 153.8400) I assume I won't hear anything on the .8400 freq.

Are the red, white, and blue freqs. the most active? Or are the others just as important?

Just curious, hoping someone knows about it. :?:

The two best web sites about MABAS are:

http://www.n9jig.com/radio/mabas/

http://www.mabasradio.org/

154.265 is the main MABS freq, all alarms should be dispatched on this channel and all en-route units should be operating here. At the scene any of the fireground channels can be used, often several at the same incident. 153.830 is the main fireground operations channel, although 154.295 and 154.280 are often used as well.

Thanks for the info,
I didn't even know this agency existed until my Brother in law asked about the freqs. (he is a volunteer fireman)

Sounds like it could be some good listening in a disaster.
He lives over in Roanoke, where that huge tornado hit this spring. Works with alot of the MABAS personel.

Thanks again!!
