If the antenna is mounted in the vertical orientation, and you do not have the antenna elements above the tower, the tower will interact with the antenna.

No matter how high above the tower you put it, the mast or the coax hanging down between elements will interfere and cause pattern problems. That's just the way it is with a vertical beam antenna unless its end mounted.

Your can use a fiberglass mast to avoid metal in the antenna field, or you can use a side or rear end mount also to avoid metal in the pattern.

Just a little thought they have made these for years they designed it to work with the size mast that is listed on the manual.

If you use a fiberglass mast and run the coax down it, in effect you still have a metal mast.

Even though MACO antennas have been around for many years (I sold them in the mid 1970s) they are one of the most clueless antenna mfrs out there.
