I take that Madison's 800mhz trunked system is in the process of being rebanded now.

Earlier in the shift I heard officers being requested to take their radios to the radio shop for reprogramming for the rebanding process.

Also, a little after 3pm today they did a radio check off all MPD police officers on channel one. Dispatch stated that if they continue to have problems that they will need to be using I-Tac channels.

This could be interesting to follow and see how it turns out.

Are you sure that Madison is/will reband? The highest frequency is 860.xxxx, if you take 860Mhz-15Mhz=845Mhz. I believe only systems higher than 862.xxxx are rebanding. They may change the channel spacing from 25Khz to 12.5Khz, which is why most scanners will not work on a rebanded Motorola system.

That's what they said on the police radio channels. Also the place I work for had to "wait for the city to finish rebanding" prior to us getting new mobile and portable radios.

I know they have added a couple extra frequencies that didn't exist a couple months ago.

Supposedly while doing to upgrades the other day, the system crashed as well as the backup system.

I guess the 800mhz radios in cars all read something like "failsoft error" according to the display.

Licensees with 860.xxxx freqs were given the option of replacing them with lower freqs (854-859) in the rebanding process. In addition, there is the need to change the mutual aid freqs.
