I run dual RS maggies.. but I do NOT run the whips that come with them!

I have one that I replaced the multisegment whip with a dual band VHF Hi/Lo whip from an retired cruiser, and my other one sports an dual band VHF/UHF whip from another retired cruiser.

I also have three other "specail plug ins" that I can put on the maggie base. VHF Lo Band only, UHF/800 that I made from the multisegments from the origianl RS ant, and an 800/900 pigtail element from a cruiser.

The base for the piggy got damaged by a tree limb, so I was given the whip.

Whith a lil creativity, and smart usage of the allen wrench, you can make some very interesting combos.

If I get the fundage, I am getting an maggie NMO and a few specific band elements for "War Scanning"....

On my truck I use a Maxrad B MAX 1000 antenna. It works very well on UHF and VHF-HI. It is fair on VHF-LO.

The antenna cost me about 21.00 from Universal Radio in Reynoldsburg, OH. The NMO mag mount I already had from a Larsen 2-meter antenna that I am not longer using.

I have owned a couple of the R/S mag mounts and personally I have not had good luck with them.

Personally I think Larsen makes the best mobile antennas BUT some folks will say Antenna Specialists, Maldol, Diamond etc. Just depends on who you ask.

Just my .02
