Mahwah going digital?

More than a year back there was some discussion about Mahwah going digital.

Does anyone have an update on that?

Listening to them, they’re still analog.

Haven’t heard of any plans to switch

They are going digital, but not trunked. It will be their own system; all agencies/departments are reportedly going to convert. Last I heard, May of 2018 was the projected install date (rescheduled from December of 2017). Looks like they missed that one.

System is going in now, Moto has been there for a few months already. P25 and thankfully in the clear

Did they just switch over? There was an overturned truck on Route 17 this morning and I heard nothing on my scanner (which is still programmed to the analog channels).

Leave your scanner in CSQ, see if it picks up NAC.

I heard nothing on Mahwah Fire or Mahwah DPW (paging). Don't listen to PD channel.

I'm still hearing the PD on analog with a PL of 88.5.

I’ll be mobile in a few minutes with their PD channel on.

Just heard radio techs testing on DPW channel in analog mode. Also heard analog fire traffic on fire response.

10-4. I also have those channels in as well.

So far, it seems to be only analog. Will keep monitoring, as I’ll be mobile throughout the day.

They were doing a series of Moto Alert tones, not 2 Tone but the trailer tones on the OEM frequency last week. I have Mahwah PD programmed in P25 only with NAC search. Soon as I hear something I will post here. So far everything is still analog.

Mahwah updates:

EMS/Fire PAGING now operating on 460.26250 with DCS tone of 165

DPW operations also using 460.2625 but with CTCSS tone of 179.9

Fire response remains the same; 460.1625 CTCSS 136.5

Primary fireground remains the same; 458.4625 CTCSS 141.3

DPW operations, Fire response, primary fireground, and EMS/Fire paging will all remain analog

PD channel 1 will move to 460.4625 P25 NAC 293

PD channel 2 will be 460.425 P25 NAC 293

OEM will move to 460.200 P25 NAC 293

No word yet on when PD and OEM transition to P25 will take place. For now, PD and OEM remain on their current analog assignments.

Mahwah PD transitioned to new P25 channel assignments and P25 emissions today.

Unconfirmed reports are that Mahwah FD also transitioned to P25; still trying to confirm that as it was initially reported that they would remain analog.
