That also takes away the ability for law abiding scanner enthusiasts to listen, hear locations/descriptions/updates and call in sightings in the area. Many have assisted pd with stuff like that when all pd had to go on was, perp last seen heading etc...

True, a good example was in Washington county, OR
A few years back..
Active pursuit of armed fugitive..
By the time they sent an alert to the community they had already chased him through our neighborhood. Thankfully as an active scanner enthusiast, I was able to retrieve our kids from the neighborhood park & warn others 15 minutes beforehand
