Marcus Hook, Delaware County (actual location is over the state line into Delaware) Sunoco Oil Refinery, large explosion and fire on the Ethylene Oxide Process unit (bad stuff). I have added the Refinery Fire Dept as well as their Operations channels into the Tri-State PA-NJ-DE feed at ScanAmerica: Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners All responding Fire/EMS agencies involved are on the feed.

Marcus Hook Refinery fire

At this time several Fire Depts from Delaware County PA as well as New Castle County Delaware are responding and on scene. Several LDH supply lines and monitors are in service, refinery operations workers are attempting to de-inventory the product from the unit.
Stay safe folks!

I was unable to follow the incident much past midnight as I had to get up at 0415hrs to get to work at the other area refinery, but from all accounts (PS radio traffic, TV, radio, press and some folks involved) it sounds like there were no (or maybe some very limited local to the event) civilian evacuations. EtO isn't my specialty, but again according to published reports, once it has burned it loses it's toxicity, or at least it is greatly reduced. And fortunately the overnight wind was out of the North which pushed the smoke/products of combustion towards Salem and Cumberland Counties in New Jersey, which are far less densely populated than areas in any other direction plus the Delaware River provided an extra buffer zone in that same direction. A major unburned release of the same product would be a whole different story.

Well, I'm across the street from Sun Oil/Sunoco at the courthouse. They haven't told us to leave. But we're in DELCO, not down in Delaware.

Rex, I think any temporary evacuations from 5-17-09 have been allowed to return.

LOL this is an old thread.
I thought the Courthouse was in Media? :)

Goshen54, I am unwilling to pass that freq on via these forums as I am unsure how my employer would react if it became an issue (either real or more likely percieved.....). Sorry. It IS published in Joe Cardani's Philly Scanner E-Book (along with tons and tons of other freqs and information for the tri-state area, well worth the one time cost for a lifetime of updates.) This E-Book was available from ScannerMaster, I assume it still is......
You may also want to check with (this is assuming the Goshen 54 handle places you as a member of CC 54 ) your company member(s) that work in the plant, on the Fire Dept in particular.
Good luck!

I noticed the date of the post above mine, not any before that, lol. District Court 32-1-36 for Upper Chichester Township, Wards 1, 2 & 5, Lower Chichester Township and the Boroughs of Marcus Hook & Trainer is right there on 13/Ridge Road.

DELCO has something like 20 or so Magisterial District Justice's all presiding over their own District Courts.

As for freq's, when I asked security when I moved back into the area, they used to be on 462.375 for the Sunoco part of the facility and 463.375 for Sun Oil part, and further up in Conoco Phillips are on a trunked (EDACS?) system. Their radios did have something like 20 channels, and their licensed for a slew of them, so who knows what they are still using.

I'll see if I can flag someone down today and ask them.
