i am trying to program marine frequencies into a scanner via software program ( FREESCAN ). when I tried to import the frequencies via RadioReference Database, I did not see Marine Frequencies listed in the data base. My wife tells me (all the time) I am blind. are the frequencies listed there and I am just not going to the right place? I sure dont want to enter all of these frequencies and data individually. Help !

Another thought here - all the DMA scanners have the marine band as a service search. There's even a search key you can activate with most of them...just a thought 73 Mike

thankyou KA3jjz

I have not used "GRAB IT " as yet
sure would be a lot easier if it were in the data base

as far as using the radios quick search, I listen to only 4-5 channels at a time and each night the barges are using different channels. I dont want to listen to just barge traffic and no Police or Fire.

I also like to monitor a few key marine frequencies, while also monitoring other non-marine channels.

My scanner has a marine band search function, but I can't do that and scan other freqs at the same time.

I just ended up manually programming in specific channels such as 9, 13, 16, 21, and 22 to be scanned along with the rest of the stuff I monitor.

I don't understand why the Marine Frequencies are not listed. I like to listen to a little bit of everything. I like a few Marine along with everything else. I dont want all Police, all Fire, all Ham, I want a few of the best of each. Come on guys, list the darn Marine Frequencies. GRAB IT too complicated / time consuming for me and my "small" brain. I need Variety in my life.

LeRoy, EZ Grab is very easy, just like the name suggests. It's quite fully defined in the user guide, which in FS is found under Help/Online Help. It's a very simple copy/paste operation - just copy the data, then bring up FS, Create a conventional system, go to the group screen and press the EZ Grab button, press the 'Copy from Clipboard' button at the bottom, use the pulldowns to tell FS how to map the data, then press 'Import into FreeScan'. You can then edit/delete/change it in the group screen to get only those channels you really want to hear.

What's so complicated??? 73 Mike

Okay, so what is the solution for the Butel and Starrsoft programs?

I agree that frequencies belong in the DB, even those that are also listed categorically in the Wiki.

This very topic - copying data directly from the wiki - was covered in the wiki forum, and Gommert replied;
=====================
All ARC programs can import frequency data from any (wiki) website using the Paste Special or Paste Frequencies option found in the Edit menu.
=====================
I'm going to go out on a limb here and think that the CSV mapper function (such as in ARC500, once the data is captured in something like Excel and saved as a .csv file) and/or Webcatcher (in the older BuTel programs) would also do the job. Just to show there's more than one way to skin a cat.... I have no idea about the Starrsoft programs...73 Mike

If someone needs this in FreeScan (.996) format, I can do that. I can also do it in Scan Control's .dat file format

For most of the Uniden scanners, it should be pointed out that there's already a service search for the marine band, and with the DMA scanners, you can associate a quick key for it, so you can call it up whenever you wish...73 Mike

AFAIK most of these allocations are similar between the US and Canada - the major exceptions being those channels marked Coast Guard and US Government only - obviously in Canada they may be used for another purpose...if anyone has the Canadian differences feel free to document them on the wiki article..best regards...Mike

Interesting - I'll upload that Word file and attach it to the Marine freqs wiki later tonight. Thanks for posting this
