Has the MSP added new frequencies to their P25 statewide system? I’ve been hearing rumors about new frequency listening.

They will be constructing a new system to make the entire state P25 Phase 2 capable. Projected completion is sometime in 2025, but those projects often fall behind schedule. IIRC, the southeast part of the state including Cape Cod are slated to be the first parts built.

Nothing heard/found yet, but.... (Search as well as Analyze and see)

a. unless they added frequencies to the Worcester Zone due to adding some neighboring towns, Nope
b. there was speculation of adding an additional tower site to provide better coverage in Shrewsbury
I was mainly talking about central Mass Troop C

They did a lot of licensing over the past year, but they haven't done any construction yet. I don't even know if they've awarded the contract although I expect it will go to Motorola.

A very preliminary Wiki page is here, https://www.snewiki.com/wiki/index.php/User:W1KNE/MSP-P25

this gentlemen compiles such things from the fcc database weekly. usually the info is updated Sun-Tues . I have seen new frequencies in the last year. FCC Updates - Your On-Line Database for Weekly FCC Updates!

It's Massachusetts, of course SOMEONE is going to land a big contract.

It will be interesting to see if the MBTA uses the Astro Core and goes with Motorola or builds an entirely new Harris system.

Does the P25 standard provide for Harris and Motorola systems to share the same core? I expect that someone here will know the answer.

Thanks Garys, very interesting article. Sounds like someone is going to land a big contract!

Negative, the L3 systems use a different network architecture with their VIDA core and MASTR V base stations, not compatible with Astro cores

Then it makes even more sense for Motorola to get the contract as the existing P25 system is already in place.
