I'm sitting here trying to get some repeater information and repeaterbook.com is totally down, since this seems to be the only world wide copy of this data perhaps the RR Database could periodically pull the data from RepeaterBook as a reduntant system?

RR database includes the information when submitted by members, keep in mind the database doesn't just use raw data, such as FCC license files or the entire Repeater Book. Not to mention that RR is a business and would have to pay for the data from the Repeater Book publisher, which is also a business.

I agree with @RaleighGuy
One of the problems with the online (or even printed) repeater guides is that they are full of repeaters that don't exist, simply listed to "hold" the frequency pair so a specific ham or group can claim ownership.

Having a list that -just- shows confirmed active repeaters is much more useful for many users.

I have a service that watches for the site to be down and it was never down yesterday. Most months I have 100% uptime.

I’d rather my data was not cloned to another site.

RepeaterBook is also user submitted and takes reception reports and also asks users after a certain amount of time to confirm if the repeaters is still there. For scanner only users it can be tricky but it's easy to check for licensed amateurs by just plugging it into your radio real quick.

If you really want hardcopy data then just buy an ARRL repeater book. I have a teeny one for travel and have found it to be reasonably accurate enough. Though I get them for free from my local club who gets them for free from one of the ARRL section people. Though I really only use 6 meters on account of my LoBand fetish (and sometimes 33cm) which has no competition for repeater space so I don't imagine you would find many paper tigers there anyways.

Many of the sites like Repeater Book and RFinder have also in the past "mined" data from club web pages, with the result that some of the data can be very old and out of date.

RadioReference only accepts data which has been confirmed active by the submitter.

Also, RR policy is that data copied from web pages is only accepted with the permission of the web page owner.

I logged an issue on Chirp last night, I'd say about 20 to 30% of the Repeaters listed in the Chirp integration to RepeaterBook come back as not compatible with my BaoFeng (ie, analog only). A huge percentage of the Repeaters in RepeaterBook are listed as Digital but if you click on their link they also say the fully support Analog, I have to key those in manually. Chrip won't even copy them over into my radio settings because it says they are incompatible. For instance, this is one of our big repeaters Navarre 444.20000 K4ECR Florida Repeater but RepeaterBook says it won't work on my radio, many others like this too. Notice it says yes, it supports analog.

Radio Reference has nothing to do with Chirp or Repeater Book, I think you'd be better off raising your concerns with one or both of them.

RFinder mined Repeater Book for its data a bunch of years ago. Then they have the balls to charge access to data they stole. Its i sulting to those of us that put the time in to RB. I had proof they mined it.
