Heard the following conversation on the OKC system (VHF side, of course). Maybe the indicator of things to come?

--DISPATCHER; Anmal control is on the line; they want to know where you are.
--OFFICER: I'm right here at the intersection.
--DISPATCHER: Well, they say they can't find you.
--OFFICER: I'm right here, and I don't see them either.
--DISPATCHER: Do you have a new radio?
--OFFICER: Yeah.
--DISPATCHER: Why don't you switch over to their channel and talk to them direct.
--OFFICER: OK

I was too busy to listen to the Animal Control side, but I guess they worked it out themselves.

Maybe the system WILL help out.

Next to a scanner...
Yea, maybe...

I heard one of the FD guys asking dispatch to call the PD and get a Black and white out for a transport. He was using his new radio. I just thought to myself what that dispatcher said - use his own radio to ask for them! He even called FD dispatch several times to check on the ETA of the officer.

As least that dispatcher knew that they might have that channel in their new radio.

On a side thought though - the two new EDACS radios that I have looked at did NOT have animal control in them (unless its named something else).

No "Animal Control" TG in mine..unless it is in with something else. Wasn't even told if they are in with someone else.

Here in Tulsa AC is usually on the Serviceside of the system ID 31568 on the Tulsa system. That may be where the are in OKC but only speculation on my part.
