Lake Patrol includes Parks & Trails deputies (low 600's) as well as Search & Rescue (800's). I heard a SAR for a missing teen within the past week or two, although I didn't listen to it all, only the initial discussion of it. Lakes is active year round.

And I believe that the probation officers are seperate from the Sheriff's Office.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. They have 2 adult probation TGs (east & west), and 5 juvenile probation TGs (A-E) on the same system that the County and MCSO use. If you can hear Joe's men you should be able to hear probation.

They are on the same Maricopa County radio system (not the Sheriff's radio system, the County's radio system) but they are a seperate agency from the Sheriff's Office is what I'm saying.

OK, call me dumb, but I'm still confused. I understand the separate agency part. But you say County radio system, not Sheriff system. From what I see it looks like the County and the Sheriff are all on the same radio system!? I can get Probation, Sheriff, and other County agencies on both Whitetanks and Downtown sites.

In the desert someplace
The Sheriff's department has a separate set of frequencies for the deputies, courts, probation, jail but the county also has some frequencies of their own. I believe those are are analog.

You're misunderstanding me. Listeners like to call the radio system the Sheriff's radio system, as if MCSO owns and administers it. They do not. They are a user of the system, along with all of the other county departments.

It is the Maricopa County radio system, not the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office radio system. And all of the departments use the same frequencies. The Sheriff's Office uses both digital and analog TALKGROUPS, while most of the other departments...

with a few exceptions, only use analog talkgroups.

The Sheriff's Office also has the analog conventional Search 8 repeater and simplex on 159.090, and may still use the old Parks repeater and/or simplex on 159.390. There's also the aviation and VHF-Marine band channels that are used as needed.
