Hello, I am super confused about how MD DNR frequencies work. I looked at the wiki and read the DB upload but still doesn't make sense.

Can someone point me in the right direction for monitoring in Montgomery County?

I know that I am in Area 5 but I don't know what freq to listen to for general dispatch operations.

Thanks for the help,
Brad :)

Some DNR NRP Area 5 counties are on FIRST.

The VHF repeaters are still on the air in many (if not all areas.) Obviously you could listen to the Poolesville and Rockville repeaters, but also the Marlu Ridge and other Frederick County sites. If you have some SDRs and SDR#, I'd watch the spectrum centered on 151 and maybe 155 MHz.

Yes we have patched the MDFirst system to the VHF system for Area 5 as not all of Montgomery County gets MDFirst Coverage. Program Area 5 VHF Sites Rockville, Poolesville, Germantown, Potomac, Hollofield, Dayton and see which one works well for you.

We also have Area 3 patched as well.

I’m sorry I’m really confused I wasn’t asking if it was in the Seneca creek state park.

I was just asking if the Germantown repeater that you were referring to is the Seneca creek state park one in the database?

You need to remember when talking about the Maryland DNR that is kind of broad and it's kind of hard to tell what you wish to monitor. The DNR has park service, plus the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) and see the link below on them.

Not the park repeater. It would be one the frequencies listed on link below for NRP's Central region Areas 5 and 6. Just pick the ones listed for your county. Don't even know if the park service still uses the conventional repeaters, but would guess they would in areas not covered by MD First.

Sorry Bub!
Seneca Park Repeater to get back to DNR Comm Center is 159.450, while in the park they use 151.415
Germantown NRP Repeater is 156.2175

And as soon as we get MDFirst Coverage in the area we will be switching them over to that system, but yes the VHF system still gets used.
