To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I have a Harris CH721 Head unit that is showing "SER download please wait" I am assuming this head unit needs to be reflashed with the CH721 Mainapp firmware.
I have had a very difficult time looking for this firmware and I wanted to see if someone can point me in the direction of finding the latest version.
I have been sitting on this for a few weeks now trying to find something somewhere out there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The head has been put into an upgrade mode and needs to be reset. Someone has messed with the ABC buttons during power up placing it in upgrade mode. I forget how to get out of it but I thought a power cycle would fix that.

SOLVED!
the Ch-721 head has had a new firmware flashed to it. If you run into this issue an new firmware is needed.
Did you have to do anything to it to get it to take the firmware flash? I have a control head that says "download please wait"... I know it needs an updated mainapp, but I can't get it to initialize to take it.

The program that loads the firmware isn't used in rpm it is a standalone Command line script that loads in a terminal.
Send me a DM and I can shoot you over what I used to solve it.

Be sure the can cable is disconnected, the head cant be talking to the MRU.
Send a serial command "atz-1" with a terminal, that will put the head into burnapp mode.
Alternate: hold the "C" button and power up the head.
Then run the .bat file that came with your version of firmware.
Latest firmware for CH-721 is R07G17.

I don't know if it will exit until the upgrade is complete and "sucess" shows in the display.
Then connect the brick and power up.
