Well, as this "snow event" progresses,
If anyone has any new freqs or TGs please try to get them on to the databases.
(even if you can only give a freq/TG with approx info like "Roads Crews")
The rest of us thank you in advance.

Well I know of at least 1 change that has to go to the db - under MTA, 453.475(167.9) is being used by the McHenry detachment full time; it's not a spare. 453.10 should be dropped.

Anyway, I'd also listen to 453.575 for the Port of Baltimore detachment - the correct PL is on the RRDB (a couple of other detachments also use the freq but with different PLs)

And yet a few more targets...

. Baltimore city (even if you can't do digital, fire dispatch would be handy; and I'd check all the old 453 Mhz freqs just to see if they're being used by plows, ect. as chit chat channels...)

. US Park Police - all of these use PL 127.3 except for 166.85, which is CSQ and a simplex ch.4 (which I've heard only rarely); I might have chs 1 and 3 reversed - doing this from memory...
166.725 ch.1
166.925 ch.2 main dispatch (yes, you would expect ch.1 to be dispatch, but it's not...)
167.075 ch.3

. Mutual Aid 154.28
. Marine ch 16 (156.8), 22a (157.10) and 23a (157.15), where Sector Baltimore has been heard in the past (even tho they can come up on any marine channel...)

. PMARS 866.3625 (156.7) for you folks in the Montgomery/PG county areas; everyone else probably should listen for the translator on 39.62

Whew! that should be enough....73s Mike

Those that are close to the miitary bases might want to watch them; such as Andrews, Martin State, Pax River, ect. We have RRDB entries for them on the Delmarva Milcom wiki page.

One addition that needs to be verified before it's sent in to the team; 344.6 AM as Andrews Metro (weather)...73s Mike

Trimmerg,
you can listen to it all including the PLOWs.

Snow Plough run over your foot ?
Your right, I listen to numbers stations on HF for hours on end, would make a sane man go nuts. Enjoy the scanning.

Hearing quite a bit of activity at BWI on 453.800 (123.0) Just heard a report on condition of RW 28 ( wet) and that the CAT 2 approach lights were operational.

154.98 'Snow Desk' at BWI up and running. This is a simplex channel. 156.195 is now 'building control' - don't know yet if it's associated with BWI or not. 73s Mike

Found a new aircraft de-icing freq at BWI. It's 131.075. This is in addition to the 130.175 in the database. I submitted the new one. From what I can tell, this new 131.075 de-icing station is working the aircraft heading for runway 15R/33L which might make the other one for runway 10/28. The de-icing operator is calling himself ICEMAN and gives a "welcome to the de-icing party" to the aircraft calling him.

Alan

[Edit] Confirmed that the 130.175 de-icing freq is for runway 10/28 and 131.075 is for runway 15R/33L

Down here is St. Mary's the normal VHF Snow Plow freq has not been active. Talkgroup 04-050 has snow removal type conversations on it. This TG is not listed in the database.

Excellant Mark. Do you know what group is running Andrews Metro - of course with all the changes going on, it might be a tough call; a group there now might not be there next week because of all the realignments

"Has anyone tried setting up weather alert on their 396 to see if it will alert for the pending snow storm?"

It would have to be in SAME mode (so not scanning) but even then, many NWS offices do not SAME-alert winter weather.

Jack, Good work.
Did you get any indications that certain ones were specific to certain areas?
Hopefully you'll submit these to the database when you get a chance.
Thanx

Also when out and about Sunday do service search of FRS band as some private plowing companies use them for large Shopping Mall lots etc,

I agree - nothing heard on 156.18. I submitted an update to the Database on the new talk group.

47.02 MHz is still active though - I just heard snow plow transmissions on it.

156.195 has at least 2 different users on it; the plows for the runways at BWI are defintely there, but there's also a 'building control' there as well; my poor old 245 doesn't have PL on it, so I can't tell whether the 'building control' is using something different from 123.0....73s and stay safe...Mike

To add on to what JackTV posted above, I've heard activity on the foloowing TG's:

24112-Sounds like plows, talking aobut Valley View Farms, so they must be in the Cockeysville area.

40272-Missed most of the only transmission I've heard on this one. Anyone know who this TG ID belongs to? It appears to be an unknown, as it isn't in the database listing.

Stuck in traffic on I-25
the bureau of highways for baltimore county usually use their talkgroup on the public safety system 40240 this is where youll hear most traffic for the plowing of COUNTY owned roads. state roads will be on 47.40 for baltimore county and district 4. the talkgroups on the local governement system are all what they are listed as in the database. 19312 is Rec & Parks Maintenance, they operate their own snow plows for park property. the bureaus of construction & engineering, bulding maintenance, and others all operate their own snow plows for their own properties that they manage. public schools use conventional lo-band 45.72 to plow school properties.
