• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Happy New Doo Dahs to one and all !!!!!

pleasantries done with now to business........

I have a fully functioning MD785 but it cannot be programmed.
The CPS does not ' see ' the USB connection from the radio hence it cant be prog'd

this is the same if tried from the front mic socket and the rear multi connector.

even when putting rig into flash mode the USB still not seen by upgrade tool

prog lead, laptop and CPS all ok and verified on another rig CPS is 8.05

any ideas how to get round this ??

not adverse to chip changing if I know which one to swap

many thanks in advance

Are you saying your PC reads and writes to one radio and not another?
When you say the 'the USB still not seen by upgrade tool' sounds like a PC/USB problem.

I’m not sure if you’ve tried doing it this way or not, but the only way I can get my Hytera radios to program is to first open the software, then hook the cable to the radio, then turn the radio on and then plug the program cable to the computer, I hope this helps, but it’s the only way I can get my to find the USB, and this is how the dealer I bought them from informed me to do it. Good luck!!

Hello SN

my pc leads and cps all work fine on many radios.
its just this one particular MD that cant be read or written to as the USB connection cannot be seen by the PC

this is what I get with target radio powered up and connected

78847

Same PC, same lead + same CPS works fine on all other radios.

seems i may have a hardware issue with the rig.
If I cant re-prog it I would like to wipe it but dont know how to achieve this without a working PC connection.

I have even tried connecting a keypad mic and going through the programming settings
but even though the mic works normally the keypad element doesnt.

any help gratefully appreciated.

many thanks

thanks for the tip - just tried it still no joy :-(

I must admit I have never heard of that sequence before but it was worth a shot.

Before I take the big leap of faith and send it for FPR I would like to wipe out the channel list at the very least.........

cheers for now

I plug the cable into the USB, start CPS and then plug into the radio. The programming cable should be recognized regardless if there is air or a radio on the end.

I have seen CPS program a few radios and then not recognize the USB as you show in your screen print. I put the cable into a different USB port and CPS is happy again. I had a Trbo CPS wipe out a USB port of a PC where nothing would be recognized, it took some effort to re-enable it.
