been thinking about one of the streaming players and wonder if anybody has any first hand knowledge, i.e.
pros/cons on either a wd live or roku/2/3. or maybe you have a different one you like. I do not have cable and would like to watch shows off the internet on my tv.

thanks

Here are the two I use, about $50 for both, no monthly fee.

You can buy rabbittv at walgreens ($10), you have to have a computer connected to your tv in order for it to work.

Chromecast
You have to have a computer/Mac to use chromcast as well, but not connected to your tv, its a HDMI dongle. Streams from chrome to the chromecast. Visit sites like ABC/NBC/FOX.....
Netflix/youtube work with it from a phone or computer. Its a cool gadget, and cant beat the price.

I tried Roku awhile back, this beats it by far.

We've got two Apple TV units, and have been quite happy with them. We shut off our DirecTV when the price hit $80 a month.
Between the AppleTV/NetFlix and the off air antenna, I've not been wanting for any more.

The big bonus for us was that my son will sit in the other room watching TV. If he's doing that instead of what he's supposed to be doing, I can shut it down from anywhere in the house. Drives him nuts, great benefit for us.

Pretty happy with them so far. Getting rid of the dish made a lot of sense since we didn't get to watch it much. Apple TV isn't for everyone, but there are a lot of good choices out there.
