I am a newbie to the 396T world and the ARC396 software. Is there anyone in Virginia trading / sharing thier ARC396 system (.mem) files or profiles.

I have subscribed to RadioReference and have downloaded the ARC396 software to begin creating systems and profiles, and I am about to order my BCD396T.

I would like to know if I can avoid re-inventing the wheel when it comes to lots and lots of systems.

I would be especially interested in conventional and trunked systems statewide and in Northern Virginia (I am in Loudoun County.)

I have noticed some other people on line here from Loudoun... please reply. Thanks in advance,

M LEMISH

Perfect - thanks.

I assume these files work with the Uniden software?
What is the uniden software called and where can I get it?
I tried registering and downloading the software from Uniden but since I dont have the scanner yet, I dont have a S/N and it thus wont let me download anything.

Is there any way to convert these files to .mem files for use with the Butel ARC396 software?

MEM file for VA

I have about 70% of VA in mem files. What are you looking for city, county, etc.

Follow the link in my sig. Lots of UASD files.

I got my scanner yesterday and loaded 8 of your system files. Now I have a question.

Loudoun appears to scan through very slow (as slow as a large conventional system) and then the other systems combined scan so fast I can hardly read the system name on the screen.

The other systems also appear to be MOTO TypeII (they are from Alex, Arl, Culp, Fauq, Manassas, and PW.)

Is Loudoun or the others programmed wrong or is this normal? What gives?

Also, does anyone know the best/exact P25 decode threshold to set for the loudoun system?

If you're in Loudoun you're out of range of all those systems, except for maybe Prince William if you live in the southern part of the county. It's only tracking the Loudoun system.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I am in the 'dead spot' near Lowes Island ;-)

I guess you are saying since it can't hear the sig channels, it flys right to the next system?

I can hear Mongomery MD from here - what else can I listen to from here?

Also, do you set your own P25 decode threashold for Loudoun or leave it on Auto (8)?

Is Sterling fire/rescue on the Loudoun system or do I need some conv. freqs for that?

Since you are in Loudoun, I would like to maybe talk with you offline - possible?

Yeah, that area is bad. I grew up in Countryside fairly close to the river and my mom is still there. Even the Loudoun system is weak there. I have mine set to Auto 8. It works fine everywhere else. You should be able to hear Fairfax, though it will probably be weak and sketchy. You can hear VSP and airborne aircraft in and out of Dulles. Load the milair system (bank3) and right now you can listen to the combat air patrol going on. Bush is spending the weekend at Camp David. With an antenna in your attic and maybe with an amp you could probably hear the VA STARS system, besides hearing everything else much better.
