Just for the hell of it, I decided the other day to create my own database of as many as I could find paging tones for Mercer County Fire and EMS. I do not plan to publish this unless there is huge support. I've read the other forums, and know the feelings of posting this data.
I come here today however to ask for some help in identifying some of the tones I have collected. I won't say who uses them, but one of the tones I have come across doesn't fit the Plectron (which most seem to be) or Motorola QCII tone charts. I am using adobe audition to narrow down the frequencies of each tone. The main one in question is 2888.5. There is nothing really close to it. By close I mean, the frequencies given back by audition need to be rounded to the nearest Plectron or QCII tone... none are dead on accurate.
Does anyone know for sure that Mercer uses mainly Plectron, or mainly QCII? By my guestimates there are some stations/squads that use a QCII Tone A and a Plectron Tone B. Or are alerted with two sets of tones. Set one being QCII and set two being Plectron. I doubt i am the first person to explore this issue, so maybe someone can help shed some light for me. Thanks.
