I have a Unication G5 on order. I want to use it to listen to local fire traffic in Volusia county for situational awareness.
Once I receive it, I noticed the PPS software is confusing.
Is there a way I can start programming the system in the software before getting the pager in hand? I noticed you have to insert the model somehow. I created a profile, and it shows G5. Can I set the model before getting the device, or should I just create a new profile, and have the software detect the pager?
I also want to set tone outs for specific stations. Does the P25 system use QCII? Is there a different way stations are signaled? How can I get a QCII list that is current if that is still being used on the P25 system?
It looks like Fire is on both the Edacs and P25 systems. Most of the time I hear the tones when stations are being toned out, sometimes I don't. Is that an issue with the Edacs system and P25 connection, or is Volusia county getting rid of QCII?
CAn I import the P25 system information from Radio reference, or do I have to enter it manualy? The instructions on-line are not current.
