MetLife Blimp

Don't know how many of you in Toronto saw the MetLife blimp hovering over the Canadian Open, but it got me wondering about what freq. they might transmit on.
I saw it as I was driving down the 427 this afternoon.

What I found on the net were these MetLife freq.'s

123.3250
463.0375
465.7125
465.8875
466.0375

the "400's" may be low power, but I'm hoping that the 123 will be active.

Didn't get home in time to verify them, but there are still a few days to go and also I guess it would also be worthwhile to hunt for CBS Sports freq's while they are just down the road.

I hear people are charging up to $40 for parking in their driveways around the corner from the golf course.:roll:
I'm about 8 km's away, maybe I'll charge $25.:lol:

I snapped a few shots of this on its way there when it overnighted on Windsor due to weather
did not get a chance to search freqs , but it would appear the uhf freqs have been noted before , other than contacting the local atc ,...the vhf air freqs logged appear to be generic air to air / air to ground frequencies & usually will vary from location to location & I would imagine are used to coordinate between the ship & ground crew at the airfield during landing mooring operations....

the 123.3250 freq will be their FBO ( field base operations) for their home base , the 460's will be their ground crew & support team.. in the air they will use what ever the low level aviation freq is for the area they are in, so if they're near pearson, try the Pearson Tower freq as well as whatever the freq is for the low flying traffic & news aircraft & helicopters

I saw this airship parked @ Buttonville airport (YKZ) yesterday- fully grounded and anchored. I would suspect they would be operating off the Buttonville Nav Canada controller, unless they wander into YYZ's flight area.

Excellent photos if you can get on the 404- it was parked right beside the northbound lanes on the west part of the airport property.

It was operating well outside the YKZ control zone. Even looked a little far to be on YYZ TWR. Try 133.4 (YYZ TMA) or alternatively DEP/ARR depending on which direction they are using.

As someone who has had the up-close and personal with Snoppy
Snoopy 2 Blimp the Crew might add UHF gear to support the event they are handling [Golf Network, ESPN, CBS etc] however they maintain VHF Air Comms only. 121.9500 is their primary [USA]

You might find some 450 / 455 Media activity.

Also [USA Experience] many of these events run 451-465 Mhz Low Power Rptrs on the Course. See the above thread for some hints, based on the Annual TPC in Massachusetts.
