Metro Units???

So last night around 19:30 or so, SLCo SO went Code one on their TAC 1 (TG: 224) Channel. The incident had something to do with threats out of WVC....

Anyway, I heard multiple units on the air identifying as "Metro" and an ID number...

I have never heard any unit identify with the pro-sign "Metro" before.

Any ideas where these guys were from?

I believe they are the Metro Gang Task Force.

Running a Google search for Salt Lake Metro Gang Task Force points to several places. It appears that this unit is made up of two or more officers from each one of the law enforcement departments in Salt Lake County. Apparently, practically each county in the state has one and they all work together on special problems spanning more than one county. According to one article published by the Deseret News, the current Taylorsville Chief of Police is the head of Salt Lake County's Metro Gang Unit. That was as of August 10, 2006.
