I don't know but,

when I was Senate chairman of Corrections MHP put their then radio in my car and their head tech, Vic Wardlaw, programmed it with other frequencies including DOC's "private freq" for me to hear all. Of course that was when just about the whole state was low band.

Yeah my cousin has one of the Lo Band mobiles too... but when F&W went to Sat Net, that put him outta the listening loop with the rest of us... Except for when F&W interops with the local PD's and SO's and MHP on Statewide Lo. Of copurse as a former Constable for JCSO, he actually knows how to work the radio LOL.

Just looked real close at the new pics you sent in to the yahoo group.. saw they finally got the 800 in the Starkville MHP cruisers. Noticed any activity on the MSU/Starkville TRS for them yet besides the patch they had for special ops?

Most of the troopers that work in and around Bolivar County have a county-owned high band radio in their car so they can talk to the PD, SO. If they don't have a county-owned radiok, they have their pak-rat walkie-talkie programmed with some ocunty frequencies.

Interesting, considering that almost all MHP vehicles have both VHF Hi Band, and Lo Band installed from go.... Of course now, they have Hi/Lo, UHF, and in a lot of areas 800 too. All DPS, including MHP mobiles must be capable of recieving and transmitting on the V-Calling, and V-Tac freqs, as well as U-Calling, and U-Tac freqs. I would just love to know what type of Hi Band they run. I know they used to run Motorola Lo Bands exclusively.

The pak-rat radios are GE if I remember correctly. Walkie-Talkie with a drop in charge/amplifier hooked up to a mobile antenna. All of the low-band radios I have seen in State Tropper cars are GE also. At least in the north part of Mississippi.

If you get to look before I do, see if they are running Orions, Panthers, or KMCs.

milf, so you want to look in a MHP cruiser?

If you would like, and if you will get on 84 in Franklin Co., I will arrange for your up close and personal look in M-46's car provided you will show your desire for such a look by driving in front of him at 80 mph +. Okay?

MHP radios

The MHP units that work for example Rankin County, Hinds County, warren County; they were provided 800 MHz by the local sheriff's dept in that county; most of them are equipped with Common Law or County Common for mutual aid to interlink with other agencies. I have friends who are dispatchers with either P.D.s, S.O. or EMS and I have been at the console when another agency needs to communicate w/another on 800 or something; the dispatcher simply ounches a button on the console and they are linked. I don't understand all the techno wizardy involved--I just know it works. It's been a long time seal where the MHP units that primarly work that area are provided a radio...Be safe
