I was adding Miami County to my BCD436HP and I noticed that it had mostly Fire and EMS talk groups and no LAW talk groups to speak of.
That doesn't seem right and I can't figure out what I may have done wrong to not get any LAW talk groups.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Most of the law enforcement talkgroups for Miami County are encrypted, which no scanner can receive. DE is full time encryption and De is partial encryption.

Thanks that's good to know but what I was referring to are the names of the talk groups whether they are encrypted or not.
For example. There's a Miami County Sheriff Meet but no Miami County Sheriff Dispatch. It seems Miami County has a lot of these Meet talk groups and I have no idea what those are. This more of a curiosity thing than a practical thing.

"Meet" can be for tactical use, or general chit-chat.

The talkgroup descriptions clearly indicate which is the dispatch talkgroup, and the mode column indicates which talkgroups are encrypted (DE is encrypted, and D is clear). The alias names shown are the actual names as used by Miami County.

If you would like to change the alias names in your scanner to suit your personal preference you're welcome to do so, but policy on RadioReference is to use the actual talkgroup names wherever possible.

LE-1 is general law enforcement dispatch for all law enforcement in the county (Miami County Sheriff, Piqua PD, Troy PD, Tipp City PD, West Milton PD and Covington PD). The "Meet" talkgroups (fire, ems or law enforcement) is used by the agencies for mostly general car-to-car traffic.
