I am working on a project where I'd like to mount the WIO away from the body of the Micro. When I used a 40 pin extension cable, I get no LED on the Micro, and the WIO only has the Bluetail MicroP25RX message, so I assume its not booting.

Any ideas if this a power issue, or would other cabling possibly work?

Please tell us more about your extension cable? What is the length ? How are you powering the MicroP25RX? Todd recently said there are only 4 wires going to the Wio from the RX.

It seems to me that a better extension cable could be built, but there does seem to be a practical limit (whatever that is) on length - what distance do you need to span?

The cable I am using is a Raspberry Pi extension cable, its 20cm. I don't need quite that much, but close to it, if possible.

Basically what I am doing is building a case that I need the wio to stick out further than the front of the case provided and to clear some speakers mounted below it.

The picture is the front of the case I am making

Try this build of the firmware. This slows the communication rate from the MicroP25RX to the Wio signficantly. It may help with adding the cable. You will need to update the Wio firmware as well if you aren't running 1217 or later.

As a quick test running FW 121707, I connected the Wio to the MicroP25RX adapter board pins using 8 inch breadboard jumpers. It works fine. This is not the slowed down test FW.

I guess I have a bad WIO terminal, I did the jumpers on the one not working on the 40-pin, and no luck. I took the one off my P25RX-II and it worked great with the jumpers.

The pins were super loose in the one not working, so its almost like the socket is bad on that one.

Thanks for the help, hopefully I'll have the project to show off soon.

Pins 19, 21, 23, 24 are the data and Pins 2 (5v) and 6 (GND) are the power.
