Diplomatic flights usually, bring people, supplies or equipment to Russian diplomats and missions. Not unusual seeing them into LA, NY and DC.
Looks like stop in NY and DC.. Note the extreme course this jet has to take North of Finland etc
and then back westbound. Not permitted in Nordic airspace. Yes most likely US Diplomatic mission change out.
That 4 engine IL-96 has good range. Sort of like when US Mil planes have to fly around Cuba and most times Mexico when headed South.
Saw recently US Coast Guard plane thru Mexico but very rare.

Watching vid landings at RAF Lakenheath was flight of 4 then flight of 5 F-22's.. Guess one missing for now.
Maybe one diverted somewhere.

All ten F-22s arrived this evening as TABOR 51-55 and TABOR 61-65.

They were on air-to-air frequencies <315.850> and <320.650> and called in on SPAD ops 341.700.
A lot of codes 2, so not sure if they all will be able to depart on Friday.

Pretty good English a bit muffled. Old radio? Just went from Dover apch 132.425 to Potomac appch 124.550.
Yeah I noticed they did not fly over any good surveillance sites for the camera to take pictures of the ground.....Dover AFB - McGuire - my antenna site...getting close to Pax River however.

Nice surveillance routing.....

Must be routing tonight to KIAD . Heard that KOW-51 plane trailing them as well on Potomac appch.
Strange route all the way to Richmond and then back North. KIAD showing delays so maybe that is the problem trying
to string out flights.

I’m sure there was still some wandering eyes out the windows….just in case 😉
well at that altitude they would have been above the clouds - if the sky was clear and conditions were right I could have visually seen them from just south of Atlantic City all the way to beyond the Delaware state line with Maryland.

I was standing on my upper deck about 25 feet up and the Delaware Bay is the only thing in that direction. So would have been able to track them----north of us we have some thunderstorm activity so not the best photo night for planes

Well am sure crew of that plane rarely sees congested air traffic like the Mid Atlantic in Russia :)
Satellites on clear day would see better anyhow.Russia doesn't have that many civ aircraft.
Even in Moscow you never see Civ aircraft pileups. Seems KOW-51 N51GB took a shortcut now.
